VCCA - Felix Chevrolet ALL Chevrolet Car Show - Sunday, May 29, 2011

This much anticipated show celebrated Chevrolet's 100th, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America's 50th, and Felix Chevrolet's 90th year and sold out of its 200 allotted months before the event.  Although it just so happened to land on the same Memorial Day weekend as the 30th Annual Cruisin' Nationals event in Santa Maria, there was plenty to look at.

Sometimes it's nice to take a look at classics built from the ground up to look as if they'd just been driven off the assembly line... with a few subtle modifications that is!

Felix Chevrolet off of Figueroa in Downtown L.A.  This place has been supplying the Greater Los Angeles area with Chevrolet's for the better part of 90 years- just a few years huh?

I know it's not a Chevy but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a pic of this killer Merc- hadn't seen this one around these parts before.

Here it is from the tail end!  Nice!

Bagged '49-'53 Chevrolet P/U

Gotta love the 1.5" white wall / astro-supreme combo!

Now here's an engine compartment you can eat out of!  Super clean straight six with a 2-2 set up, Offenhauser intake, Fenton headers and not a drop of oil on the block.

Not sure who manufactured this green and cream two-wheeler but it's cool nonetheless.

Another super cool/ clean straight six equipped with single carb, functioning oil-bath filter- wiper fluid resevoir... and braided hoses?!

Same motor from the other side... Nice plug wires!

1937 Chevrolet Sedan Bomb!

Front ends for days!

1938 Chevrolet Coupe

The super mean and mellow green machine! 1948 Chevrolet Delivery

1948 Chevrolet Coupe equipped with window A/C and bug screen!  Hadn't seen one of those before.

Probably reminiscent of what the Felix lot looked like in '54... minus the apartment complex blanketing the background

Super clean '54 Bel Air Hard Top

1953 Chevrolet Hard Top with Sombrero hub caps

This one didn't quite make it into the show but found close enough parking.  Oops!  You're parked in a red zone!

A couple more beauties parked just outside of the lot.

That's All Folks!

George Barris 2011 Culver City Car Show - May 7, 2011

The Barris "Cruisin' Back to the 50's" car show is an annual event that has descended on the business lined streets of downtown Culver City for the better part of 7 years.  Living in Southern California and attending several classic car shows a year, we feel at ease to say that this event brings out some of the finest cars the Golden State has to offer.  Aside from a slew of awesome rides, cool vendors, and tasty eats; we were blessed to catch the end of Deke Dickerson and his band putting on a great performance.

All in all, this was a great show and a beautiful day in Southern California!  Here's a glimpse of what we were able to see and capture.

Oh and by the way, there's a new artist in town.  If you get a chance stop by www.bomonster.com and check out some ghoulicious art work.  Bomonster slings out scratch board style screen prints, lithos, original artwork, t-shirts, and stickers featuring classic dragsters, roadsters, and ghastly creatures.

Now it's on with the SHOW!!!

The back end of the Barris Kargoyle!

George Barris himself enjoying the day!

"The Platinum Bomb" Aircraft inspired 32 Roadster,
built by none other than the guys at Hollywood Hot Rods

This pic just doesn't do this interior justice. If you've ever had the chance to see this one up close then you know what I'm talking about.

Speeding through the cosmos!!
John Saltsman's '50 Studebaker Pick-up "Atomitron"

'53 Chevrolet with lots o' eye candy

'56 Packard Clipper taillights!  Nice!

Merc's just never get old... or cheap!

Here's yet another Merc!

Thought this was a good angle!

Killer '53 Pontiac Hardtop

Mild but cool Merc parked in front of the Meguiars Car Polish tent

Cool 1960 Impala... Hearse?!

Super clean front end!

Gotta love those Buick headlights and a Desoto grill!

All hail the painted lady!

1960 Impala Panel Wagon!  Nice scallops!

Clean '64 Thunderbird done the way they should be! Complete with tail!

I hope you enjoyed the pics!  We will be covering the Gasoline Gallery's "California Screamin" event next week so check back for pics!

If we have misrepresented a car please let us know!  Thanks!
